Introducing a new weekly section dedicated to our hardworking Marvin teachers and staff members. We appreciate you more than we can say!
Meet A Star Teacher
Name: Mrs. Palmer
Grade: First
Background:
I graduated from Eastern Connecticut State University with a degree in Elementary Education.
I taught Kindergarten at Our Lady Star of the Sea in Stamford for 2 years.
As I was getting my masters, I was an intern at Marvin.
The next year at Marvin, I taught 3rd grade and I have been teaching 1st grade for the past 30 years. Time goes by fast with my Marvin Family!
What do you love about teaching First Grade?
It’s very rewarding teaching first grade since you see so much growth and maturity in one year. I especially love teaching my students how to read!
We know how hard teachers are working this year. What can parents do to help you?
Having parents who care, are flexible, patient and supportive are what makes a successful year for all!
What we love about Mrs. Palmer!
"Mrs. Palmer has been an absolute joy this school year. She has been extremely patient, kind and helpful since day one. The day I realized what a true ROCK STAR Mrs. Palmer is was back in October when my son had to quickly switch from in person learning to distance learning due to a family emergency. Watching Mrs. Palmer balance her at home and in person students was amazing. She never missed a beat and kept everyone engaged. As an educator myself, I sympathize and understand what a difficult time this is for teachers. We have been truly blessed with Mrs. Palmer this year!"
Christina Bedient, Ethan Bedient’s Mom
“Mrs. Palmer is the greatest teacher in the whole world because she teachers me lots of new things. I also never knew that math was so easy! Mrs. Palmer also helps me with math and writing. She is so nice and I like doing fun crafts!”
